Once there was a girl who climbed mountains. "I climb because I love love the mountains, and I meet God there."
From a very early age, Lygon had two strong internal passions: one was mountains and one was understanding spiritual truths. Both challenged and inspired her. Her quiet pondering caused her to seem distant or dissengaged, until she spoke. When she did in her soft voice, anyone who knew her would get quiet and lean in.
At 20-years-old she had become an experienced and accomplished mountaineer. She was the only woman in a team of 11 who traveled to Equador to climb their tallest peaks. Only Lygon and one other summitted all four peaks. She was the only woman in a team of 10 who climbed Delani in Alaska. She and her brother, Nicklis, both successfully reached the summit together. On January 10, 2008 they were making a winter ascent of Little Bear Peak in southern Colorado when an avalanche swept them down a steep 1,000-foot slope. Miraculously, Nicklis survived. Lygon did not.
If there is a God who could intervene in multiple events to save Nicklis, how could He, why would He, NOT save Lygon?
A dad, who knows a God who wants to be known as Father, ponders these mysteries. Perhaps her own words and images of her mountains can provide some clues as they leave us inspired. (Nick)
This is a recording of Lygon's journal entry called "The Dance."
"He just asked me to dance, and dance with my Father I did."

There is a part of me that burns for the eternal.
I cannot live without a purpose, not truly live.
I can stand on all the great summits of the world,
but it would not be enough to justify a reason to live.
Since I've tasted the eternal, a goal that lacks it feels empty and useless.

Walk with me awhile, Lord. Be with me as you were with Adam in the garden. Let's walk and talk of things of beauty and things of truth and goodness. Let me listen to Your voice and You teach me of ways far above my own and show me how to live by Your perfect example.

I fast because I am hungry.
I run because I am thirsty.
I die every day because I want to live.
I lead because I follow.
I give everything away to become rich.
I am weak and broken so I will be strong.
I see more when my eyes are closed.
I'm in love with someone I haven't seen.
I love the unlovely.
I am honored when people mock me.
I embrace the foolish things to become wise.
I will walk wholeheartedly out on any limb He requires,
... because even if He lets it break,
He can teach me to fly.
