From his teens, Nick Stevens made a hobby of fatherhood and family. When he lost a daughter to an avalanche in 2008, he realized he wanted to spend the rest of his life sharing his knowledge and experiences as dad with other men. For over eighteen years now, he has led men’s ministries and spoken publicly about fatherhood.
Granddads, like most men, love to DO, not TALK.
They want to be good granddads, but don't know what to say or do, and they are not that interested in being the free babysitter. He has now authored a book titled The Best Granddad Ever: Seven Spiritual Gifts Your Family Need from You to be published later this year that provides tools and a roadmap to help.
Grandfathers need to learn the power of their voice and be challenged to use it to bless their family and build a positive legacy.
He lives in Colorado and has climbed over twenty fourteen-thousand-foot mountains (14ers) using them to illustrate life principles.
In 2008, while doing a winter ascent of Little Bear Peak in southern Colorado, a very large slab avalanche swept two of Nick's four children down a 1,000 slide. His son, Nick Jr. survived, but Lygon did not.
Their story and Lygon's journals have impacted many lives. A collection of her journal entries are published in Cairns for the Climb, from the Journals of Lygon Stevens, which is available in the store portion of this website (under construction).
Also, a subsidiary of Our Daily Bread produced a full-length film about Lygon, her faith, and how her journals provided hope and the needed faith to navigate the loss and publicity of her death. The film is titled The Time to Live Is Now, The Legacy of Lygon Stevens. A DVD copy of the film is also available for purchase in the store portion of this website. (under construction.)
I am a work of art, signed by God.
But He's not done; in fact, He has just begun.
Though the image in my mirror doesn't match the magazines, or movies, or the ads, I have on me the fingerprint of God.
Never will there ever be another person like me.
In all the world I have a job to do in this life that no other can do.
Can you see the fingerprint of God on me?
Lygon Steven
